PATENT WILL BE GRANTED FOR ELECTROMAGNETIC ENGINE VALVE ACTUATOR

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Aura Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: AURA), has received a Notice of Allowance in its pending patent application from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office for its electromagnetic variable valve actuator currently under development for automobile and other internal combustion engines.
The Aura electromagnetically actuated valve is controlled electronically so that the precise time of opening and closing of the valve may be actively determined in real time in accordance with engine operating parameters such as load, rpm and throttle positions. The valve will make it possible to optimize valve opening and closing for maximum power output and fuel economy and minimum pollutant emission. The Aura variable valve actuator also allows an engine to switch between alternate fuels with no hardware modifications.
"Other designs require excessive electrical current that would either exceed the capacity of a typical engine-driven alternator or require excessive engine horsepower to generate the required current which would nullify the benefits of the electromagnetic actuation," according to Anthony T. Cascio, vice president, intellectual property, for Aura. "The dynamic mass and electric current requirements of the Aura electromagnetic valve actuator are within design tolerances and capabilities of existing automobile engines and electrical systems," he added.
Aura Systems Inc. is a world leader in optical projection systems and magnetic actuator technology.
