PAT PUTTS ON STYLE.
Two weeks after Mathias Gronberg won the European Open in Ireland by a massive 10 strokes, 27-year-old Patrik Sjoland fired a 62 to take a four-shot lead into the final round of the Canon European Masters in Switzerland.
Sjoland, whose first tour win came in the Italian Open in May with a 21-under-par display, is already 20-under.
Having shot 65 and 66 in the first two rounds, Sjoland's 54-hole total of 193 is just one outside the tour record of compatriot Anders Forsbrand on the same course 11 years ago.
Clarke had a 66 but fell to five adrift and to third place as German Sven Struver's 65 left him as Sjoland's closest challenger.
"Patrik's putting was unbelievable," said the Ulsterman, chasing a victory which would put him top of Europe's Order of Merit.
"It's the finest exhibition of putting I have ever witnessed and my only chance is to steal his putter."
