PAT OFFICIALS TO MEET WITH SENATE TRANSPORTATION APPROPRIATION CHAIRMAN
 PITTSBURGH, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Port Authority Board Chairman Neal Holmes and PAT Executive Director William W. Millar will meet with U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.), chairman of the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, today, Tuesday, May 19, to strongly emphasize the need for federal funding for public transportation in southwestern Pennsylvania.
 Among the topics to be discussed are PAT's Busway/HOV System Expansion Program which includes the Phase I portion of the Airport Busway between downtown Pittsburgh and Carnegie and use of the Wabash Tunnel as an HOV facility. Also included in the program is the Phase I extension of the Martin Luther King Jr. East Busway from Wilkinsburg to the Swissvale/Rankin border.
 Chairman Holmes and Millar will be seeking support from Lautenberg for a congressional earmark of $39.5 million in transit discretionary funding, a $39.5 million appropriation toward funding specifically authorized for the program through the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA), and the restoration of $7.3 million cut from the program in fiscal year 1992.
