PAT A. SERVODIDIO NAMED PRESIDENT OF MULTIMEDIA BROADCASTING CO.
GREENVILLE, S.C., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Pat A. Servodidio, Vice President and General Manager of WKYC-TV, Multimedia's NBC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio, has been named President of Multimedia Broadcasting Company effective immediately. The joint announcement was made today by Walter E. Bartlett, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Multimedia, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: MMEDC), parent company of Multimedia Broadcasting, and J. William Grimes, Vice President and Corporate Group Executive. Grimes has directed Multimedia's broadcasting operations since last October.
"Pat Servodidio is highly regarded by his peers in the broadcasting industry," said Bartlett upon making the announcement, "and the depth of his experience at all levels of the business will be a strong asset in his new position." Grimes added that Servodidio was chosen for the division presidency from a lengthy list of candidates and that "it was gratifying to have the best man for the job already on staff." As President of Multimedia Broadcasting Co., Servodidio will oversee the division's five network-affiliated television stations, eight radio stations and a video production business.
Servodidio joined WKYC-TV in June 1991 soon after Multimedia acquired the station. Under his leadership, a new management team was hired, news and local programming were given increased prominence, and an exciting new promotional campaign begun. The changes have contributed to a re-positioning of the station and improved performance overall.
Prior to joining Multimedia, Servodidio had been with RKO General, Inc. since 1966. He was president of RKO General from 1987-1991 and was responsible for all subsidiary television and radio operations, motion pictures, soft drink bottling and hotels.
As President of RKO Television from 1982-1987, Servodidio was responsible for the company's television stations, which included those in New York and Los Angeles. During that time, he designed and implemented strategic plans for repositioning the RKO television stations, while negotiating for and purchasing substantial syndicated, motion picture and sports programming.
Servodidio was also Vice President of WNAC-TV, Boston; Vice President of WOR-TV, New York; and Eastern Sales Manager, RKO Television Representatives, New York.
A New York area native, Servodidio holds a B.S. degree from Fordham University, has completed graduate course work at St. John's University and is a graduate of Harvard University's special management program. He is a director of the International Radio and Television Foundation and a member of the Board of Regents of St. Peter's College in New Jersey. He and his wife, Ulla, are the parents of a son and daughter.
In addition to its broadcasting operations, Multimedia, Inc., a diversified media communications company headquartered in Greenville, S.C., publishes 12 daily and 49 non-daily newspapers, operates more than 100 cable television franchises in four states, and produces and syndicates quality television programming, including the Phil Donahue and Sally Jessy Raphael shows.
