PAT'S CAKE; WALK.

Put your Sunday best on Wilcuma (2.30) in the middle leg of an Auntie Beeb treat from Newbury.

Steady rain has fallen at the Berkshire track in the past few days and the puddling- like surface should be a cake-walk for Pat Eddery's mount.

Wilcuma was in superb form last season and went into many notebooks after a very sound seasonal reappearance at HQ a fortnight ago.

The opener will be a real slog and conditions can't be soggy enough for tough front runner Kadastrof (2.00).

My selection was in winning form over hurdles this winter and could outstay probable favourite Samuel Scott (2.00).

Derek Haydn Jones is a trainer going places and Q Factor (3.00) will strip fitter after a recent run at Ascot. Soft ground is ideal and the five-year-old has definite each way prospects at a nice price.

At Ripon, Jim Goldie's Keep Battling should have improved a bundle for a solid effort at Redcar.

But preference is for Les Eyre's consistent sort Mels Baby (3.15).

Jack Berry was in winning form yesterday and Power Game should go very close in a moderate opener.
