PASTIC focuses towards modern research tools for researchers' capacity building.

ISLAMABAD -- Director, Pakistan Scientific and Technological Information Centre (PASTIC), Nageen Ainuddin Thursday said that PASTIC is focusing towards the introduction of latest and modern research tools for capacity building of young researchers.

Addressing a 2-day training workshop on Research Tools and Techniques here at PASTIC National Centre, Quaid-e-Azam University Campus she said that in this digital age of technology IT-based scientific research tools are useful to make the research process easier and faster.

She said there is dire need to train young scholars for better organization of their pdf documents or references and automatic insertion of citations for preparation of thesis and research papers.

She highlighted that since Human Resource Development is one of the core activities of PASTIC, therefore it has organized many workshops in the field of information handling techniques, data management data mining data processing etc.

The objective of this workshop is to build the capacity of young researchers through utilization of MENDELEY research tool.

PASTIC is a specialized organization for handling and dissemination of scientific information under Pakistan Science Foundation, PSF of Ministry of Science and Technology.

Through this workshop the skills and knowledge of young researchers will be developed from literature search till the documentation of thesis regarding management and citation of document and references.

Principal Librarian (PASTIC), and chief organizer of the workshop, Syed Habib Akhter Jaffri presented the report of the workshop and hoped that this hand on training will improve the capacity building of young researchers by providing an overview of capabilities of the scientific research tools like Mendeley.

Senior Scientific Information Officer PASTIC, Dr Maryum Ibrar Shinwari was the resource person of the workshop.

Faculty members, research scholars of M. Phil/ Ph. D of various universities participated in the workshop.
