PARTIES IN VOTE PANIC.
Byline: FIONA PARKER

Eric Thorpe, Salford Gtr Manchester In response to a number of letters about payday loan firm Wonga (September 29), anyone taking out this type of loan shows they are living beyond their means. People seem to forget they have to pay the loan back with massive amounts of interest. To do so they take out another loan and so the cycle goes. Sara Moor, Stockport Gtr Manchester After India's successful space mission to Mars, I wonder why we are giving this country millions of pounds in aid if they can afford such a mission. This money should go to more worthy causes in the UK such as the NHS. Ken Townend Hayle, Cornwall A huge thank you to Paul Routledge for his article on the glory of steam and the train spotters (Mirror, Sept 25). Thanks also for featuring the Flying Scotsman. We are very lucky in this country to have so many enthusiasts devoting so much of their time and expertise to the restoration and preservation of steam power.
