 PARK INNS OPENS SEATTLE OFFICE
HOTEL CHAIN TARGETS MAJOR PACIFIC NORTHWEST GROUP
SAN FRANCISCO, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Citing the potential for a strong rebound in the Pacific Northwest lodging industry, Park Inns International Inc. recently opened a Seattle representative office. This office is primarily a business development and sales office.
Frederick Roozen, formerly a regional director with Holiday Inn, has been appointed regional vice president. Roozen will have development and operational responsibility.
Jonathan R. Read, president of Park Inns, stated that "with our increasing Asian and European presence, coupled with our new northern U.S. properties, we are experiencing an increased demand for Washington and Oregon properties. We are aggressively pursuing a strong development and operating program in the region. We continue in our desire to acquire a controlling interest in a number of regional chains."
Park Inns has made two offers to acquire a substantial interest in Nendels Corp. of Seattle. Nendels, a 70-unit chain, has resisted the move. Read stated, "We continue to be active in our discussions with Nendels, and have received a number of inquiries from their franchisees indicating a high desire for the Park Inns system."
Park Inns expects, through the Pacific Northwest sales program, to drive up occupancies in its other U.S. hotels, as well as aid in brand awareness for its international properties in England, France, Spain, Holland, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico.
"We are making a substantial commitment to the region and remain confident of our success," summarized Read.
