PARAMOUNT CONTINUES TO CENTRALIZE MOTION PICTURE MARKETING OPERATIONS

HOLLYWOOD, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Motion Picture Group of Paramount Pictures announced that as of March 1, 1994, all national media planning and select media buying will be done in-house, as part of the studio's continuing strategy to centralize motion picture marketing operations.
The studio's overall consolidation approach began with the creation of 5555 Communications, Paramount's in-house ad agency, in late 1992. Ogilvy & Mather will continue handling national broadcast media as Paramount's agency of record.
"This concentration of marketing functions in-house reflects the business realities of the 1990s," said Arthur Cohen, president of worldwide marketing for Paramount's Motion Picture Group. "Our reorganization with Ogilvy & Mather is indicative of the value we place on this partnership."
"Ogilvy & Mather has been an important part of the Paramount family, and will continue to have a significant role to fill after this reorganization," said Gerry McGee, executive vice president and managing director of Ogilvy & Mather/LA.
Paramount's Executive Vice President of Advertising and Promotion Tom Campanella will oversee the planning and buying function.
5555 Communications is a full-service ad agency handling Paramount's theatrical features and home video releases, in both print and broadcast.
Ogilvy & Mather is a part of the WPP Group. Paramount Pictures is part of the entertainment operations of Paramount Communications Inc.
