 PARAMOUNT COMMUNICATIONS ELECTS RONALD NELSON A DIRECTOR
 Promotes Doppelt, Hertlein To Senior Vice President;
 Hull, Shea, Tsacalis, and Williamson To Vice President
 NEW YORK, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Ronald L. Nelson, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Paramount Communications Inc., today was elected a director, enlarging the company's board to 16 and bringing the number of directors from management to four.
 At the same time, Paramount announced the promotion to senior vice president of Earl H. Doppelt, who had been vice president and deputy general counsel, and Rudolph L. Hertlein, who previously was vice president, internal audit and special projects. Mr. Doppelt will retain his title of deputy general counsel. In addition to directing internal audit and special projects, Mr. Hertlein will take on the additional responsibility of overseeing the company's real estate and administrative services functions.
 The company also announced the promotions to vice president of the following executives, all of whom will continue with their previous responsibilities: Anthony E. Hull, senior director, financial planning; Martin M. Shea, assistant vice president, assistant secretary, and director, investor relations; Norman A. Tsacalis, assistant vice president, internal audit; and David H. Williamson, assistant vice president and president, Paramount Communications Realty.

 Mr. Nelson was named senior vice president and chief financial officer in November 1987 and was elected executive vice president in September 1990. He joined the company in 1979 as director of finance for the television distribution division of Paramount Pictures and held a number of senior financial and operating positions in the television and home video area before moving to the corporate staff as executive vice president of Paramount Communications Entertainment in July 1986. Mr. Nelson was born in Oakland, Calif. He received a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of California at Berkeley in 1973 and a master's degree in business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1976.
 Mr. Doppelt was elected a vice president of Paramount Communications in October 1986. He joined the company as associate litigation counsel in 1983, became deputy general counsel in October 1985 and two months later was appointed assistant vice president. Previously, he was an associate at the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison. Mr. Doppelt received a bachelor's degree in history and political science from the University of Rochester in 1974 and a J.D. degree from Cornell Law School in 1977, where he was graduated first in his class and was a member of the Cornell Law Review Board of Editors. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
 Mr. Hertlein joined Paramount Communications in 1975 as director of special projects and international audit after 12 years with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young. He was named a vice president of KayserRoth Corporation, then a Paramount Communications company, in 1976, returned to the corporate staff as director of special projects and internal audit in 1978, and later that year became an assistant vice president. He was elected a vice president in April 1983. Mr. Hertlein is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Management Accountants.
 He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from St. John's University in 1962.
 Mr. Hull was appointed senior director, financial planning of Paramount Communications in December 1990. Previously, he was a vice president in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated, where he specialized in media companies. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he was assistant production manager for Metromedia Television, WNEW-TV, the predecessor of WNYW, Fox TV. Mr. Hull graduated from Amherst College in 1980, where he received a bachelor's degree in economics, and earned an MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
 Mr. Shea joined Paramount Communications in 1977 as manager, investor relations and was named director, investor relations in 1979. He was elected an assistant vice president and assistant secretary in April 1983. Previously, he was a corporate trust officer with Chase Manhattan Bank and, earlier, an assistant secretary at Bankers Trust Company. Mr. Shea received a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Hartford in 1967.
 Mr. Tsacalis, who was appointed assistant vice president of Paramount Communications in October 1986, joined the company as director of internal audit in April 1985. Previously, he was director of internal audit at Gold Fields American Corporation from 1981 to 1985 and, before that, was a senior manager with KPMG Peat Marwick, where he began his career in 1968. Mr. Tsacalis is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting and a master of business administration degree in controllership from St. John's University.
 Mr. Williamson joined Paramount Communications Realty in 1971, was named vice president in 1975, executive vice president in 1980 and president in 1987. He was named an assistant vice president of Paramount Communications in September 1991. Before joining the company, he was assistant manager of real estate for Borden, Inc. Mr. Williamson is a member of the Society of Industrial Realtors, New York City Chapter; The Industrial Development Research Council, Inc.; and the National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives. He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial management from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he also received a master's degree in management.
