PARAMEDIC SERVICES TO BE ADDED.

Byline: Daily News

MOORPARK - Paramedic services will be added Jan. 14 to Moorpark Fire Station 40 and Oak Park Fire Station 36 under a new partnership agreement with American Medical Response and the Ventura County Fire Department.

The agreement approved by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors in December also allows the fire department to provide regional dispatching for all three ambulance providers in the county.

The agreement ``allows us to expand our ALS (advanced life support) services, put a limited number of firefighters through paramedic school, provide faster response times and coordinate all emergency medical service providers,'' said Ventura County Fire Chief Bob Roper.

Ventura County Supervisors Judy Mikels, who represents the Simi Valley and Moorpark areas, said the new partnership agreement is part of an ongoing process of reassessing emergency medical needs in the growing communities.

Supervisor Linda Parks, who represents the Oak Park and Thousand Oaks areas, said she was pleased with the agreement and ``confident that lives will be saved as a result of faster response times.
