PARAMAX RECEIVES CONTRACT FOR HARPOON SHIPBOARD COMMAND
 AND LAUNCH CONTROL SYSTEMS
MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Paramax Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Unisys Corporation, has been awarded an $8 million contract from McDonnell Douglas to produce nine Harpoon Shipboard Command and Launch Control Systems.
Under the contract, Paramax's Systems Development division in Great Neck, N.Y., will produce the systems, along with equipment to support Harpoon Operational Team Training Systems (HOTTS) and associated spares. The contract runs through mid-1994.
The Harpoon Launch Control System receives target data from various ship sensors via the ship's fire control systems. This information, along with ship navigation system data, allows the launch system to generate a highly accurate target solution and missile flight plan.
Paramax has produced more than 513 Harpoon Shipboard Command and Launch Control Systems for McDonnell Douglas over the past 21 years. The Harpoon missile is the most widely deployed anti-ship missile in the U.S. Navy inventory and is capable of being fired from aircraft, ships or submarines.
