PARAMAX AWARDED CONTRACT FOR TRIDENT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

 MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Paramax Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS), has been awarded a contract worth nearly $45 million by the U.S. Navy Strategic Systems Programs office to provide engineering technical assistance and other services for the Fleet Ballistic Missile program.
 The one-year, cost plus fixed fee contract requires Paramax to provide engineering technical assistance, field engineering services, logistics support and navigation test vehicle management for the Poseidon/Trident submarine navigation systems, as well as support the Gravity Sensor System. The contract runs from Oct. 1, 1992, through Sept. 30, 1993.
 The engineering services that Paramax will provide include investigating fleet problems and analyzing and evaluating fleet patrol data; making documentation changes in navigation technical manuals and operating and maintenance procedures; doing design evaluations, analysis, development, integration, configuration management, quality assurance and reliability; supporting Poseidon submarine dismantlements at various shipyards; and planning for engineering overhauls of Trident I submarines.
 Paramax will also provide field engineering support of deployed submarines, both on-site and in Paramax facilities; refit shops for submarines; dismantlements of retiring submarines; and engineering overhauls of Trident I submarines.
 Logistics support for the navigation system and Gravity Sensor System is also included in the contract. Paramax will provide provisioning, technical data and data systems support, as well as support the module equipment repair and spares program.
 Finally, Paramax will be responsible for overall technical direction required for the planning, testing and evaluation aboard the Navy's Navigation Test Vehicle, both dockside and at sea. That includes subcontractor technical assistance, if required; data management and control; and investigation, evaluation and reporting of test data.
 Work on the contract will be performed at Paramax facilities in Great Neck, N.Y.; Reston, Va.; and various shipyards and government locations. Paramax is the designer and developer of the Poseidon and Trident submarine navigation systems and has served in that role for more than 35 years.
