 PANHANDLE TRADING ANNOUNCES RESTRUCTURING
 HOUSTON, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Panhandle Trading Company (PTC),


the Panhandle Eastern Corporation (NYSE: PEL) affiliate operating as an independent marketer of natural gas in the national marketplace, has realigned its operations and duties to create geographic regions of responsibility.
 "This regionalized structure will focus Panhandle Trading Company's resources to meet the challenges of the changing competitive environment," said David G. Thompson, president.
 The restructuring, which was effective March 1, includes the following personnel changes:
 David R. Liles, formerly vice president of gas sales, is vice president of the southeast region. Mark A. Wetzel, formerly vice president of gas supply, is vice president of the northeast region. Binford R. Halverson is vice president of the midwest region.
 Liles joined Panhandle Eastern in 1981, became a sales representative for PTC in 1985 and held various positions of increasing responsibility. A native of Taylor, he is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in marketing.
 Wetzel joined PTC in 1988 as manager of gas supply, was promoted to director in 1989 and vice president in 1990. Wetzel has a bachelor's degree in history from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., and received a master's degree in business administration from the University of Houston in 1977.
 Halverson was employed by Panhandle Eastern in 1985 and joined PTC in 1987 where he held several positions of increasing responsibility. He received a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Texas at Austin.
 Susan L. Griffin has been named area manager of sales for the midwest region, reporting to Halverson. She joined Panhandle Eastern in 1986 and moved to PTC in 1989. She received a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Stephen F. Austin University.
 Also reporting to Thompson are: M.A. (Toni) Moreno, manager of administration, D.E. (Gene) Cooper, manager of transportation services, and James W. North, manager of futures trading and risk management.
 Panhandle Eastern Corporation operates one of the nation's largest interstate natural gas pipeline systems, providing natural gas to the Midwest and Northeast markets.
