 PANELISTS ANNOUNCED FOR CABLE ACADEMY'S
 SEVENTH ANNUAL FALL FORUM LUNCHEON

EDWIN DIAMOND, BRIAN LAMB, BERNARD SHAW AND LYNN SHERR TO SPEAK;
 LINDA ELLERBEE WILL MODERATE
 WASHINGTON, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Edwin Diamond, contributing editor and columnist, New York Magazine; Brian P. Lamb, chairman and CEO, C-SPAN; Bernard Shaw, principal Washington anchor, CNN; and Lynn Sherr, ABC News correspondent, "20/20," will speak on "Cable's Coverage of the Elections" at the National Academy of Cable Programming's seventh annual Fall Forum Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Linda Ellerbee, president, Lucky Duck Productions, and writer/host of Nickelodeon's "Nick News: W-5," a news magazine series for kids, will moderate the panel discussion.
 "In the wake of the Democratic and Republican national conventions, it will be timely to have journalists of this caliber discuss the political process and the heightened role cable is playing in the coverage of the 1992 campaign," stated Suzanne Hayes, executive director, National Academy of Cable Programming.
 Diamond has written numerous articles on television's coverage of politics and is currently working with The News Study Group at New York University on a series of articles titled "An Analysis of Campaign '92: The Early Coverage."
 In addition to his duties as chairman and CEO of C-SPAN (the Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network), Lamb is also one of the network's on-air hosts. Lamb anchored C-SPAN's coverage of the Democratic and Republican national conventions. After the Democratic convention, Robert Goldberg of the Wall Street Journal stated that "C-SPAN emerged as the media hero of the convention" and Tom Shales wrote in The Washington Post, "Best convention coverage: C-SPAN, which lets a convention be a convention."
 Shaw moderated the third Democratic presidential candidates' debate in February 1992 and, along with Catherine Crier, anchored CNN's coverage of the political conventions. Shaw and Crier also anchor "Inside Politics '92," CNN's newscast devoted exclusively to the 1992 presidential campaign.
 Since joining ABC News in 1977, Sherr's political assignments have ranged from providing reports on ABC News' exit poll results to covering Geraldine Ferraro's 1984 campaign for vice president. Sherr was a floor reporter for the 1980, 1984, 1988 and 1992 political nominating conventions. She is currently working on a two-hour live special, "Seize the Power: A Lifetime Challenge to Women in America," to air on the Lifetime cable network in September.
 The Fall Forum Luncheon will take place at the New York Hilton Hotel with a reception beginning at 11:45 a.m.; the luncheon will start at 12:30 p.m. For ticket information, contact Jay Galvan at the Cable Academy: 202-775-3611.
 The Cable Academy was created in 1985 to credit and promote excellence in cable television programming. John S. Hendricks, chairman and CEO, Discovery Communications, Inc., is Cable Academy chairman; Suzanne Hayes is executive director.
