PALM PUNT'S PITS FOR U2.

Byline: Murphy's Law

IT WASN'T surprising to see Bono named as the Worst Investor in America this week.

This very column was first to point out the silliness of ploughing half a billion dollars into one mobile phone manufacturer, only to promote their rivals on tour.

Bono's Elevation Partners firm lost a third of their money in one month this year on Palm, who make smart phones.

But since U2 was plugging rival product BlackBerry on their world tour last year, that's hardly surprising.

Elevation Partners is now considered "arguably the worst-run institutional fund of any size in the United States".

Time to go back to the day job, Bono?
