PAL'S TRIBUTE TO HOODLUM GERBIL; Bizarre memorial to murdered gangster.

Byline: KERRY HARVEY

A FRIEND of slain gangster Kevin Carroll has created an online tribute to him.

Pal Amanda Dickson launched the memorial to gangster Carroll, 29, on the Gone Too Soon website.

She spoke with feared thug Carroll, nicknamed Gerbil, three days before he was gunned down outside an Asda store in Robroyston, near Glasgow, in January.

And she insists that "whatever path he chose" he was a good partner to 30-year-old Kelly Green -nicknamed Kelly Bo - and father to their sons, aged six and one.

Amanda wrote: "A good true friend a good daddy and partner. I was there to watch his and Kelly's love grow.

"Whatever path he chose in this life he loved his friends, family, and Kelly and with all his heart and his heart was big. He was the wee man everyone knew."

Carroll, who lived in Lennoxtown, near Glasgow, was a key member of the Daniel crime clan and a top police target.

He also led an armed "alien abduction gang" that posed as police to kidnap, torture and rob rival dealers of cash, drugs and guns.

e terri ed victims, often dumped on the street in their underwear, usually told police they had no memory of what happened.

The rival Lyons crime clan have been blamed for Gerbil's murder.

But pals of the thug are keen to present a di erent picture of him on the website.

The online tribute also includes a series of photos of Carroll as a fresh-faced teenager wearing a shellsuit and baseball cap.

Amanda wrote: "Hey bro I spoke to you 3 days before u were taken away xx u were the usual self laughing, joking and just being you xx i hate the way you were taken.

"U know what I think of when i think of u? e song u used to sing to Kelly and me xx bood bood ding ding everybody sing sing xx u know what i mean haha."

Carroll also features on another website - a Bebo page dedicated to people from Glasgow's Possil area who have died.

Others on that site incude prostitute Tracey Wylde, 21, who was murdered in 1997, and Paul McEnhill, 21, who was stabbed to death in 2004.
