PACIFIC BELL AND NEWBRIDGE TO JOINTLY MARKET AND SERVICE NETWORKING EQUIPMENT

KANATA, Canada, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Bell and Newbridge Networks announced today that they have signed a two year comprehensive marketing agreement under which they will jointly pursue specifically identified opportunities to sell and service Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) type applications.
Under terms of the agreement, Pacific Bell will take the lead role in presenting total solutions to customers with Newbridge in support of those efforts. Typically, Pacific Bell will present proposals which include Newbridge(R) products and services. Pacific Bell will then manage, along with the installation of its network services, the implementation of Newbridge products by Newbridge personnel. In addition, Pacific Bell will make available to its customers the standard Newbridge repertoire of service plans, as well as customized service offerings.
This agreement applies to the complete line of Newbridge MainStreet(R) networking equipment, including Frame Relay and ATM products, and is a non-exclusive arrangement for both parties.
"We are excited by the potential of this relationship", said John Fallini, executive director of joint marketing for Pacific Bell. "We are looking forward to a mutually beneficial relationship through which we can better meet our customers' complete fast packet communications needs, than could either company by itself."
"The potential of this relationship for both parties should not be underestimated," commented F. Michael Pascoe, Newbridge U.S. president. "Their market presence and our advanced networking products and service amount to a powerful affiliation."
The Pacific Bell Data Communications Group, working in conjunction with joint marketing affiliates and customers' designated long-distance carriers, coordinates products, applications, and services, providing customers a single point of contact for coordinating complete network integration solutions. Long distance companies carry communications that cross Pacific Bell's service area boundaries.
Pacific Bell is a subsidiary of Pacific Telesis Groups, a diversified worldwide telecommunications corporation based in San Francisco.
Newbridge Networks is an international company which designs, manufactures, markets and services multimedia, standards-based networking products for global LAN and WAN applications, all manageable by a single, graphically rich network management system.
