PACIFIC ASIA TECHNOLOGIES APPOINTS KNOWLES CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

 VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Asia Technologies, Inc. (Vancouver: PFT.V) today announced the appointment of Henry Knowles as the chairman of its board of directors.
 A distinguished lawyer, university lecturer and businessman, Mr. Knowles is presently managing director of Calgary Overseas Development Co. Ltd., which is assisting the Russian oil industry in the development of its Siberian oilfields, and chairman of the board of ECO Corporation and a director of a number of other public companies listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
 Mr. Knowles has helped several companies undergo structural change greatly enhancing shareholder value in the process. He is a director and former chairman of Algonquin Mercantile Corporation, a Toronto-based company having substantial interests in fresh produce with annual sales in excess of $80 million. His knowledge of this industry will assist Mr. Knowles in his new role as chairman of Pacific Asia. An author of some repute, Mr. Knowles, a former chairman of the Ontario Securities Commission, has publications on many corporate and legal topics and is co-author of "So You Want to Fight," shareholder rights and remedies in Canada.
 In consideration, the company has granted Mr. Knowles an option to purchase 200,000 common shares at a price of Cdn. 65 cents for a period of five years.
 William Gough, a former president of Empress Foods Ltd., the manufacturing division of Canada Safeway, Ltd., is resigning as a non- executive director of Pacific Asia to take up a post as senior project manager with the company. Mr. Gough is a chemical engineer with many years experience in the food processing and in particular the fruit juice industry. Mr. Gough will be helping the company in installation of its Maptek Fresh technology in North America. Maptek Fresh keeps freshly squeezed juice in prime fresh condition for more than one month. For many years, he has been involved in all aspects of juice production. He has operational experience of handing a wide range of juice products and is a former engineering manager of Sun Rype Juice of British Columbia.
