PA Works on Making Old City of Bethlehem World Heritage Site.

RAMALLAH, June 26, 2012 (WAFA) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad al-Malki is expected to attend the World Heritage committee meeting on Sunday in Saint Petersburg in Russia to work on inscribing the old city of Bethlehem on the World Heritage List.

A statement by the ministry said that al-Malki's attempt to inscribe Bethlehem on the World Heritage List comes within the Palestinian Authority's aim to activate Palestine's membership in the UNESCO and preserve cultural and natural sites in Palestine.

PA has a primary list of around 20 Palestinian sites in the West Bank and Gaza, including East Jerusalem, to inscribe on the world heritage list.
