P&G ACQUIRES BRAZILIAN CATAMENIAL BUSINESS

 CINCINNATI, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG) today announced that it has acquired the catamenial business of Higie Bras, a privately-held manufacturer of paper products based in Curitiba, Brazil. Financial terms were not disclosed.
 Under the agreement, P&G acquires Livre Atual, an established feminine protection pad brand in Brazil plus two smaller brands, Mulher Atual and Lady Care.
 The company said the addition of these brands to those acquired last month from Pro-Higiene will enable P&G to establish a strong presence in the Brazilian catamenial market. P&G acquired the Ela brand and several other smaller feminine protection pad brands in Brazil from Pro-Higiene.
 P&G currently markets the following consumer goods in Brazil: Pampers and Pampers Uni diapers; Pantene and Pert Plus shampoos; the Phebo line of soaps, colognes and deodorants; the Monica line of soaps, cosmetics and shampoo; and Max Factor cosmetics.
 P&G worldwide had sales of $30.4 billion in 1992-93. The company makes and markets a wide range of products for both consumer and institutional use, has on-the-ground operations in more than 50 countries and sells its products in more than 140 countries.
