Executive Inn Hotel and Convention Center, Sixth and Walnut, P.O. Box 3246, Evansville, 47731; 812/424-8000. The Executive Inn is the largest hotel property in the southwest region of the state. There are three lounges, a restaurant, an indoor pool and an athletic club at this 500-room inn. Call the inn for more information about its two-for-one weekend rates. Regular rates: $40 single; $44 to $48 double; $67 to $130 for suites.

Holiday Inn North, 2508 Business U.S. 41 N., Evansville, 47708; 812/425-1092. Holiday Inn East, 100 S. Green River Road, Evansville, 47715; 812/473-0171. Toll-free number for both locations: 800/HOLIDAY. The 220-room Holiday Inn North is only four miles south of the airport. It has an outdoor pool, a restaurant and a lounge. Regular rates: $62 single; $68 double. Great Rates of $39 are available. The 109-room Holiday Inn East in the heart of Evansville's business and shopping district was formerly the Best Western Williamsburg Inn. Guests at the inn have complimentary use of the facilities at local health clubs. The inn, which has a restaurant and a lounge, also is within easy reach of a golf course. Regular rates: $51 single; $48 double. When available, Great Rates are $40.

Radisson Inn, 7101 U.S. 41 N., Evansville, 47711; 812/867-7999; 800/333-3333. Easily accessible from the Evansville airport, this 201-room property has been given the four-diamond designation by the American Automobile Association. The Radisson is close to all of the area's major employers. Amenities include an indoor heated pool with whirlpool and an exercise room. The Radisson also features a restaurant and a lounge. Rates: $74 to $84.

Ramada Inn Evansville, 4101 U.S. 41 N., Evansville, 47711; 812/424-6400; 800/228-2828. This 198 room hotel offers an indoor pool, whirlpool, health club, sauna, indoor movies and free transportation to the Evansville airport. Sweeney's restaurant and sports bar is on the premises, and the Ramada can cater parties of up to 1,000. Rates: $62 single; $68 double; corporate, weekend and group rates available.

River House Hotel, 20 Walnut St., Evansville, 47708; 812/425-3176; 800/824-6710. The 91-room River House is the only other AAA four-diamond property in the area. Off the riverfront, this hotel offers golf, an exercise room, a Jacuzzi, a restaurant and a lounge. Rates include a complimentary breakfast, which is served in the dining room. Corporate rates: $79 single; $89 double.

Signature Inn, 1101 N. Green River Road, Evansville, 47715; 812/476-9626; 800/822-5252. Close to the business district, shopping, entertainment and restaurants, this 125-room Signature Inn offers an outdoor pool and all the in-room comforts for which these properties have become known, such as roomy work surfaces and recliner chairs. A continental breakfast also is provided. Rates: $48 single; $55 double.


The River Belle, Indiana 66, P.O. Box 669, Grandview, 47615; 812/649-2500 or 649-2812. Guests may stay in one of two grand old homes or a guest cottage at this bed-and-breakfast property in Spencer County. In their leisure time, they can talk a stroll along the Ohio River or watch the white squirrels frolic. Rates: $40 to $65.


Best Western Dutchman Inn, U.S. 231 N., Huntingburg, 47542; 812/683-2334; 800/528-1234. This 94-room inn offers an outdoor pool, golf, a restaurant and a lounge. Rates: $45 to $50 single; $53 to $58 double.


The Artist's Studio Bed & Breakfast, 429 W. Haysville Road, Jasper, 47546; 812/695-4500. Located close to antique shops, Patoka Lake, and only 40 minutes north of the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, this 1920s bungalow is an artists' residence and bed-and-breakfast inn. At times guests can watch the artists at work. Rates: $40 to $45.

Holiday Inn--Jasper, P.O. Box 6, Jasper, 47547; 812/482-5555; 800/HOLIDAY. This 200-room Holiday Inn is on U.S. 231. It is a Holidome with an indoor pool, sauna and whirlpool. It also features a restaurant and a lounge with live entertainment. Regular rates: $52 single; $65 double. Corporate rates are available.


Scottish Inns, Interstate 64 and U.S. 231, Dale, 47523; 812/937-2816; 800/251-1962. This 50-room inn is near Megamaze, a giant, world-class maze adventure, and a miniature golf course. It also is close to Holiday World at Santa Claus. Rates: $24 single; $28 double.


Four Seasons Motel, Indiana 62 W., Mount Vernon, 47620; 812/838-4821; 800/264-1405. Lodging in Mount Vernon is available only at this 43-room property. It has an outdoor pool. Meeting rooms also are available. Rates: $37.50 to $73.


The New Harmony Inn, 504 North St., New Harmony, 47631; 812/682-4491. All the rooms at The New Harmony Inn are appointed with contemporary furniture, but have the warmth and elegance of home. The inn offers tennis courts, gardens, patios, a hot tub, an enclosed greenhouse swimming pool, a bakery, a health club, a bookstore and The Red Geranium Restaurant. There also are five guest cottages available. Rates for rooms and cottages: $40 to $360.


Princeton Inn, Sixth and West Broadway, Princeton, 47670; 812/386-1200. Located at U.S. 41 and I-64, this 91-room inn offers guests an indoor pool and free continental breakfast. Rates: $42 single; $48 double.


The Rockport Inn, Third at Walnut, Rockport, 47635; 812/649-2664. Quaint and out of the way--12 miles from Owensboro, Ky., and 60 miles from New Harmony--The Rockport Inn is in Spencer County where Abraham Lincoln spent his boyhood years. This six-guest-room bed-and-breakfast inn overlooking the Ohio River also has a full-service restaurant. Hand-hewn logs and beams in this 1855 structure are still intact. Rates: $35 to $44.


Daystop, 14th Street and Indiana 66 E., Tell City, 47586; 812/547-3474. The only hotel in Tell City, this 66-room property provides guests with an outdoor pool and a restaurant. Summer rates: $36 single; $40 double.


Executive Inn, One Executive Blvd., Vincennes, 47591; 812/886-5000; 800/457-9154. This 319-room hotel is at the intersection of U.S. 41 and U.S. 50. Amenities include an indoor pool, a restaurant and a lounge where a house band plays nightly. Rates: $32 to $44 single; $42 to $48 double.

Holiday Inn of Vincennes, 600 Wheatland Road, Vincennes, 47591; 812/886-9900; 800/HOLIDAY. This 132-room property is a Holidome with an indoor and an outdoor pool, a restaurant and lounge, a game room and a putting green. The Holiday Inn of Vincennes is at the junction of U.S. 41 at the Sixth Street interchange. Rates: $47 single; $52 double.


Mimi's House, 101 W. Maple St., Washington, 47501; 812/254-5562. Relive the 1920s and '30s when staying at Mimi's House, a bed-and-breakfast inn which is filled with memorabilia and antique furnishings. It is listed on the National Register. Rates: $40 to $75.
