CLARKSVILLE

Econo Lodge, 460 Auburn Ave., 47130; 812/288-6661, 800/424-4777. Located two miles north of downtown, this 100-room lodge provides an outdoor pool, and restaurants are nearby. Rates: $30-$48 single; $36-$48 double.

Greentree Inn-Best Western, 1425 Broadway, 47130; 812/288-9281, 800/528-1234. A 107-guest room hotel, just off Interstate 65 at U.S. 31, it features an outdoor pool and a free movie channel. Restaurants are within walking distance. Rates: $38-$42 single; $43-$47 double.

Howard Johnson, 342 Eastern Blvd., 47129; 812/282-7511, 800/654-2000. This 161-room hotel has been totally refurbished. It has an outdoor pool and a restaurant. Regular rates: $35 single; $41 double.

Lakeview Hotel and Resort, 505 Marriott Dr., 47129; 812/283-4411. Formerly the Quality Inn Lakeview, this 357-room property is next door to the Derby Dinner Playhouse and is situated by a lake. Amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, a restaurant and lounge, discounts to Wave-Tech next door, putt-putt golf, tennis, and fishing in the lake. Rates: $49 single; $54 double.

CORYDON

Best Western-Old Capitol Inn, Indiana 135, P.O. Box 124, 47112; 812/738-4192, 800/528-1234. Standiford Field Airport in Louisville is only 31 miles southeast of this 77-guest room inn, which also is close to area caves and antiques and craft shops. There is an outdoor pool, a restaurant and lounge on the premises. Rates: $36-$42 single; $41-$50 double.

Budgetel Inn, 2495 Landmark Ave.; 812/738-1500, 800/428-3438. This 80-room hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants and shopping centers, and also is near several golf courses and a pool. Historic downtown Corydon is about a mile and a half away, and the Hoosier National Forest is a short drive away. A suite with king-size bed, queen-size sofa sleeper, microwave oven and refrigerator is available. Pets are welcome at no extra charge. Regular rates: $29.95-$42.95 single; $36.95-$49.95 double. Children under 18 stay free.

Kintner House Inn, Capitol and Chestnut, 47112; 812/738-2020. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Kintner House is a B&B that provides a full breakfast for guests. It is located in the heart of Corydon, close to the Old Corydon Historic Site, shopping and restaurants. There are 15 guest rooms, each with a private bath, and two apartments. Rates: $49-$89 weekends; $39-$69 weeknights.

JEFFERSONVILLE

Days Inn-Jeffersonville, 350 Eastern Blvd., 47130; 812/288-9331, 800/325-2525. Located on I-65, this 172-room inn has an outdoor pool and a restaurant on the premises. Rates: $29 single; $35 double.

Ramada Hotel Riverside, 700 Riverside Dr., 47130; 812/284-6711, 800/537-3612. A 186-room hotel in downtown Jeffersonville, this Ramada is on the Ohio River with a Louisville skyline view. Amenities include an outdoor pool, game room, free movie channel, a restaurant and a lounge. Packages are available for $59.50 per room, and there is a $45 weekend super-saver. Corporate rate: $49.

LOUISVILLE

The Brown Hotel, 335 W. Broadway, 40202; 502/583-1234, 800/866-ROOM. The 295-room Brown Hotel is well-known for the Hot Brown sandwich, which originated at its restaurant, and it is on the "Historic Hotels of America" list. It also is known for exceptional dining in The English Grill, and for its handsomely restored Bluegrass and Thoroughbred rooms. It is located off I-65 at 4th and Broadway Streets. The weekend rate is $88, which can be upgraded to the concierge level for an additional $10. Corporate rate: $120, single and double occupancy.

Courtyard by Marriott--Louisville East, 9608 Blairwood Road, 40222; 502/429-0006, 800/321-2211. This 151-room property has an outdoor pool, health club, indoor whirlpool, restaurant and lobby bar. It is 10 miles from the airport and 11 miles from downtown. Weekday rates: $74 single; $84 double. Weekend discounts available.

Executive Inn, 978 Phillips Lane, 40213; 502/367-6161, 800/626-2706. Located at the main entrance to the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center, across the street from the airport, the 479-room Executive Inn also is close to downtown. Its amenities include free airport shuttle service, indoor and outdoor pools, a health club, two restaurants and a lounge. Rate: $64 single; $74 double.

Executive West, 830 Phillips Lane, 40209; 502/367-2251, 800/626-2708. This hotel has 611 guest rooms and parlor suites, free airport shuttle service, two restaurants, live entertainment, and also is at the exposition center. Rates: $64 single; $74 double.

The Galt House Hotel, On River at Fourth Avenue, 40202; 502/589-5200, 800/626-1814. A total of 1,300 rooms are available at the Galt House, including 600 suites, in the heart of the Derby City's business and entertainment district. There is complimentary parking, plus three restaurants and three lounges. Galt House regular rates: $84 single; $95 double; $250 for Riverview rooms. Galt House East regular rates: $110 single; $125 double; $475 for Riverview rooms. Packages are available for $140-$190 for two people, plus $55 for an additional night.

Holiday Inn Airport East, 1465 Gardiner Lane, 40213; 502/452-6361, 800/HOLIDAY. Located near the airport and the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center, this Holiday Inn provides 200 rooms. The "Great Rate" is $39, subject to availability. Regular rates: $58-$63, plus $7 for each additional person.

Holiday Inn Downtown, 120 W. Broadway, 40202; 502/582-2241, 800/HOLIDAY. A 290-room hotel, this Holiday Inn has an indoor pool, sun deck, exercise room, a restaurant and a lounge with live entertainment. Executive-level rooms are available. The "Great Rate" is $65. Regular rates: $71-$91, plus $10 for each additional person.

Holiday Inn Hurstbourne, 1325 Hurstbourne Lane, 40222; 502/426-2600, 800/HOLIDAY. Located in the business area, this 271-room provides an indoor pool, sauna and whirlpool. "Great Rates" are $59 weekends; $74 weekdays. Regular rates: $79-$89, no charge for additional persons.

Holiday Inn Rivermont Centre, I-71 and Zorn Ave., 40207; 502/897-5101, 800/HOLIDAY. There's a restaurant and lounge at this 171-room inn. Available all week, the "Great Rate" is $46.40-$54.40. Regular rates: $58-$150, plus $7 for each additional person.

Holiday Inn-South Airport, 3317 Fern Valley Rd., 40213; 502/964-3311, 800/HOLIDAY. This 405-room Holidome only two miles from the airport. Amenities include free in-room movies, an indoor fun center with a pool, whirlpool, an exercise room and game room, and a restaurant with live entertainment nightly. The "Great Rate," subject to availability, is $55. Regular rates: $67-$75, plus $8 for each additional person.

Hyatt Regency Louisville, 320 W. Jefferson St., 40202; 502/587-3434, 800/233-1234. This 388-room Hyatt in the heart of the business district is newly renovated. It is connected to the convention center and the Galleria and features an open atrium and an 18-story tower. There is an indoor pool, whirlpool, hydrospa and tennis. Packages are $135-$229 per couple. Deluxe-room regular rates: $109 single; $134 double. Regency Club regular rates: $134 single, $159 double.

Radisson Hotel Louisville, 1903 Embassy Square Blvd., 40299; 502/499-6220, 800/333-3333. Located in the East End, Radisson Hotel Louisville has 255 guest rooms. It is close to the Oxmoor Mall, off I-64 at Hurstbourne Lane. There are several amenities, including an indoor pool, whirlpool, exercise room, ping-pong and pool tables, and fine dining and live entertainment. "Shades of Summer" rates, subject to availability, are $59 on Friday and Saturday nights. Regular rates: $82-$98 single; $92-$108 double.

Ramada Hotel Airport East, 1921 Bishop Lane, 40218; 502/456-4411, 800/2-RAMADA. This property has 150 rooms and two suites. Guests may use the outdoor pool, and may visit nearby health facilities for free. Courtesy airport transportation and same-day valet service are available, and the hotel offers meeting and banquet space. Rooms feature remote-control cable television and clock radios, and handicapped-accessible and non-smoking rooms are available. On the premises are Maxwell's Cafe and a new Country/Western nightclub called Horsefeathers, which has a disc jockey and offers free country dance lessons and a happy hour buffet. Regular rates: $55-$85 single; $60-$90 double. A weekend bed-and-breakfast special is $39, based on availability. Corporate rates are available.

Seelbach Hotel, 500 Fourth Ave., 40202; 502/585-3200, 800/333-3399. The Seelbach is of Roaring '20s fame and features 322 deluxe guest rooms furnished in classical style. Historic murals accent this centrally located hotel. Both casual and fine dining are offered, plus a piano bar. Amenities include exercise equipment, an outdoor pool and guest privileges at the Louisville Athletic Club. The weekend rate, subject to availability, is $85. Regular rates: $140 single: $150 double.

NEW ALBANY

Holiday Inn Louisville Northwest, 411 W. Spring St., 47150; 812/945-2771, 800/HOLIDAY. Located at I-64, this 134-room Holiday Inn has an indoor pool, a restaurant and lounge, and business services. The "Great Rate" is $42. Regular rates: $45-$60, plus $7 for each additional person.

SCOTTSBURG

Best Western-Scottsburg Inn, I-65 and Indiana 56 West, 47170; 812/752-2212, 800/528-1234. Located about 34 miles from Standiford Field, this 95-room inn has a restaurant, lounge, outdoor pool and playground. Rates: $45 single; $50 double.

Mariann Travel Inn & Restaurant, I-65 and Indiana 56, P.O. Box 36, 47170; 812/752-3396, 800/648-0662. This 98-room inn is 29 miles north of Louisville and 85 miles south of Indianapolis. It has a heated outdoor pool and a playground, and a golf course is nearby. Rates: $31.95 single; $39.95 double.

SELLERSBURG

Days Inn-Sellersburg, 7618 Highway 60, 47172; 812/246-4451. An outdoor pool, free movie channel, continental breakfast and 110 guest rooms are provided at this Days Inn. Restaurants are within walking distance. Rates: $36.95 single; $42.95 double.
