OverDrive introduces e-book lending service for libraries.

OverDrive Inc, a distributor of electronic books, has unveiled a service that allows libraries to offer over 35,000 titles in e-book format for lending purposes.

A particular problem in the past regarding e-book lending was that early e-book technologies locked the files to a single computer or specialised device, making it difficult to lend titles. However with OverDrive's new technology titles can be borrowed through the Internet and read on portable devices, reported the Los Angeles Times.
