Over the rainbow; Lynne's delight at award.

A TEES Valley employee is on a high after beating off strong competition to pick up a national award.

Office manager Lynne Murphy was named Administrator of the Year for helping disaster restoration company Rainbow International's UK arm deliver vital services to victims of flood and fire.

Based in Darlington, the firm specialises in restoring homes and businesses after fire, flood or accidental damage, as well as providing a domestic and commercial carpet and upholstery cleaning service.

Lynne beat off competition from more than 400 company colleagues across the UK to take the accolade.

Lynne's boss, Michael Folkes, said she had played a crucial part in the success of the franchise over the last two years.

Michael said: "Lynne has shown massive commitment to the business and her organisational skills have been paramount in helping us continue our growth. She fully deserves the award."

And proud Lynne said: "I am delighted that I have been recognized for my hard work, but would not have been able to achieve this without the support of my team and work colleagues."

Michael and his father Charles launched their Rainbow International franchise five years ago and since then have seen turnover grow from an initial pounds 180,000 in their first year to more than pounds 1m this year, creating 16 jobs in the process.

They recently relocated to a 5,000sq ft response centre on the Alliance Industrial Estate in Dodsworth Street, Darlington.

Their franchise area has also greatly expanded, from originally covering Darlington and Richmondshire to taking in Stockton, Middlesbrough and Hartlepool.

Phil Else, managing director of the Rainbow International network of franchises, presented Lynne with the award.

He said: "Good office managers are often the unsung heroes in any business, providing the systems without which businesses could not function.

"Lynne's achievement has been outstanding."
