Over 183,000 patients get treatment at PIC.
LAHORE -- The Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) has provided medical treatment to 183,367 cardiac patients, including 112,658 in outdoor, as well as 70,709 patients in Emergency ward despite limited beds during the last six months.
This was stated by Chief Executive of Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Prof Nadeem Hayat Malik in a meeting on Friday while highlighting the performance of the institute during the last six months.
He said apart from Punjab, lot of patients came from other provinces to the PIC for treatment and despite limited resources PIC never deprived any patient of treatment facilities.
Prof Nadeem Hayat Malik said the PIC catering huge patient load which could be managed by evolving a better referral system for this purpose. He said the PIC was providing the best medical facilities to patients
according to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif. He informed that during the last six months, 14,040 patients admitted in the hospital whereas 8,932 minor operations/procedures were conducted by doctors.
Moreover, 1,171 major surgeries of patients were carried out in the institution. He was of the view that on average 1,500 to 2,000 patients were getting one-month free medicines daily from the OPD and the PIC had this unique distinction as no other hospital provided medicines to such a
huge number of patients in OPD. However, the PIC was maintaining this tradition for the last many years, he concluded.
