Longbranch Wellness Center, an outpatient medication-assisted addiction treatment center, has opened in Old Metairie at 701 Metairie Road. The facility offers drug addiction and counseling treatment for people who cannot or do not have time to go to inpatient for 45 or 90 days. Its website describes it as a spa-like program that has counseling sessions, group support and customized medication. The center is part of Longbranch Healthcare, which recently opened a $ million inpatient program in Abita Springs that is reportedly the largest investment in addiction treatment in Louisiana in the past decade. The facility offers 45 to 90-day treatment including trauma programs, 12-step immersion and dual diagnosis programs for patients with anxiety and depression. The projects are spearheaded by Longbranch Healthcare founder and CEO Chris McMahon, a New Orleans native and entrepreneur who beat an opioid addition nearly 17 years ago and says he wants to make addiction treatment accessible to more people. Dr. Arwen Podesta, an adult psychiatrist and addiction medicine specialist, is chief medical officer of Longbranch Healthcare. To sign up for free CityBusiness Daily Updates, click here.
