MANews-(C)2009-2012

3 October 2012 - Finnish mining process solutions and technologies provider Outotec Oyj (HEL:OTE1V) has taken over Australia-based engineering specialist Backfill Specialists Pty Ltd, the buyer said on Wednesday without disclosing the price.

The deal, which was wrapped up today, will not lead to changes in Outotec's guidance for its 2012 financial results.

Backfill Specialists, with an annual turnover of some EUR18m (USD23.3m), provides technical consulting and engineering services, focusing on mine backfilling technologies. The acquisition is expected to beef up Outotec's paste plant expertise and expand its portfolio of tailings treatment solutions to the global mining industry, the buyer said. The deal will also allow the buyer to provide solutions on the proper use of water in the sector and facilitate tailings treatment globally, CEO Pertti Korhonen noted.

The Finish company now plans to integrate the target's process solution offerings into its international sales network, proprietary equipment and project implementation practices.
