OutStart Customer Receives the Learning 2005 Pioneer Award.

BOSTON -- Vice Admiral J. Kevin Moran Named Recipient for Leading the Navy's 'Revolution in Training' Initiative

OutStart, the leading provider of software solutions for learning and knowledge sharing, is proud to congratulate Vice Admiral J. Kevin Moran for being named the recipient of the Learning 2005 Pioneer Award at Elliot Masie's Learning 2005 Conference in Orlando, Fla. Vice Admiral Moran, who serves as the Commander of the U.S. Naval Education and Training Command (NETC), was recognized for his role in spearheading the Navy's "Revolution in Training," a sweeping initiative conceived to transform education and training through a focus on the learner.

Since 2002, OutStart's learning technology has played a key role in the "Revolution in Training," helping the Navy to drastically reduce course development time, maximize content reuse and deliver personalized training to more than 500,000 sailors worldwide. Admiral Moran's dedication to turning the U.S. Navy into a world-class learning organization has led to the creation of the Navy's Integrated Learning Environment (ILE). The ILE provides access to world-class education and training to the sailors already in the service and enables the Navy to compete for the best possible talent in an increasingly competitive landscape.

"This much deserved recognition is a testament to Vice Admiral Moran's vision and leadership over the past five years, as he's worked to make the 'Revolution in Training' a reality," said Massood Zarrabian, president and CEO at OutStart. "OutStart is proud of the role it has played in helping Vice Admiral Moran and the U.S. Navy meet and exceed their training objectives and deploy one of the most advanced learning infrastructures in the world."

OutStart products have served as the underpinning of numerous Navy e-learning initiatives. In July, 2005, OutStart announced that OutStart Evolution LCMS and OutStart Evolution LMS were deployed aboard U.S. Navy submarines as part of the Navy's Integrated Shipboard Learning Environment (ISLE), an infrastructure that provides Sailors in disconnected environments with the same access to personalized training as their comrades on shore. In the near future, OutStart Evolution LCMS will be deployed aboard ships, as well. OutStart Evolution LCMS dynamically delivers just-for-me learning content based on each user's rating or skill-set, while OutStart Evolution LMS enables Sailors to manage their professional development in accordance with the Navy's 5 Vector Model.
