Out of the Barn.

A neighboring player in the carpet wars intends to set up shop in Maumelle during the coming months.

The Carpet Barn of Pine Bluff, one of the largest carpet companies in Arkansas, is eyeing locations along Maumelle Boulevard.

"At this point, we haven't nailed anything down on where we will go," says Richard Bush, who will manage the new Carpet Barn outlet.

The company is looking for a one-acre site that initially will house a 5,000-SF facility. The outlet also is to serve as a springboard into the Conway market.

Carpet Barn, founded 27 years ago, has one outlet in Pine Bluff and once operated a store at Dumas. The company has 24 employees and does about $2 million in annual sales.
