Our Say: THE Labour Party.

THE Labour Party should be worried by today's news that Birmingham's Muslim-led People's Justice Party has disbanded and its members transferred to the Liberal Democrats.

First and immediately because the move strengthens the Tory-Lib Dem coalition that runs Birmingham City Council and reduces Labour's chances of regaining power.

But also because the transfer of PJP members to the Lib-Dems suggests that Labour's support among inner-city Muslim voters is crumbling.

Labour's leadership - locally and nationally - need to ask how they have so badly lost touch with a group of people who were once among their most loyal supporters.
