Our Financial Management (FM) family.

At the 2016 PDI, you might have noticed three attendees with the same last name. It is not a coincidence; they are a family of three FMers, who are all ASMC members!

The father, Jesus (JD) Davila-Gonzalez, is a financial specialist with US Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) at Peterson AFB CO. JD retired from the Army and came to USNORTHCOM J83 as their computer specialist. Over the years he transitioned into a full FM financial specialist with the responsibility of funds control for the Command. JD said the PDI gave him the opportunity to learn of new changes in various FM subjects and meet with counterparts in the career field. Additionally, they had great speakers such as Gen John F. Kelly, USMC, Retired. Overall, PDI is a place where the FM community comes together to learn from others.

The mother, Gloria Davila, is a budget analyst in Headquarters, Air Force Space Command (AFSPC). Gloria began her FM career as the AFSPC Comptroller secretary and moved into the FM career field as a budget technician at Schriever AFB CO. She returned to HQ AFSPC and serves as their Civilian Pay and Base Operating Support programs analyst. Gloria says she enjoyed the PDI Air Force General Session listening to agency leadership and catching up with so many other Air Force financial personnel. In addition, she benefitted from the various sessions addressing changes to the civilian workforce.

The daughter, Cristina Davila-Ruiz, is in the PALACE Acquire (PAQ) Program, working as a budget analyst for the SpaceI Based Infrared Systems, Space and Missile System Center, Peterson AFB. Cristina started her FM career in the Student Career Experience Program and moved to the PAQ program once she completed her bachelor's degree in accounting. I She is currently pursuing a master's degree in finance. Cristina was excited to attend her first PDI, especially the PAQ conference. In that session, she really enjoyed meeting other PAQs and learning about the various areas of financial management where they are currently working. She was impressed by how many other DoD FMers attended and learned so much from the various sessions, in particular, the Critical Thinking presentation.

JD and Gloria couldn't be more proud of their daughter following in their footsteps working for the Air Force in the FM career field. The Davila family will always remember this PDI as a great experience they enjoyed together!
