Following an almost countrywide ban on the popular twominute snack for having lead beyond the permissible limit, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ( FSSAI) on Monday ordered rigorous tests for other famous noodles, pasta and macaroni brands.

The famous snacks under scanner include Wai Wai 123 Chicken and Veg Noodles, Wai Wai Mama Punte Chicken Bhujiya and Wai Wai Triangle Bhujiya Chicken ( manufactured by CG Foods India Pvt Ltd), and 10 variants of Foodles manufactured by Glaxo- SmithKline Consumer Healthcare Ltd.

"Various test results on Maggi and some similar products have raised serious health concerns.

In view of the same, we have advised to draw regulatory samples for similar products for which approvals have been granted by the FSSAI,"the official added.

These samples would be sent to the authorised labs for testing as per the testing parameters. If the food samples are not found conforming to the applicable standards, necessary action will be taken against the firm.
