Ostomy release Vent. (Product Spotlight).

KEM Enterprises, Inc., manufactures the Osto-EZ-Vent (0EV), designed to release air build-up from an ostomy pouch before problems can occur. The 0EV helps people who have had either an ileostomy or colostomy. It attaches to any manufacturer's pouch and allows the user to easily release gas pressure from the pouch. When build-up occurs, the resident or caregiver simply lifts the "plug" out of the base opening. After air is released, the unit is snapped closed. The opening of the 0EV also accommodates a plastic tube that can continuously release air for a physically challenged person.

For two-piece and drainable pouches, the 0EV gives users easy access for releasing gas pressure without opening the clamp at the bottom of a pouch or trying to disengage the pouch from the wafer. Air release takes only a few seconds. For one-piece closed pouch users, it provides the only access to relieve the gas.

Most users wear the 0EV five to seven days. The 0EV lasts as long as the wearer uses the pouch. Water does not affect the use of the vent, and it can be used when bathing or swimming.
