Osicom Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:FIBR), which through its wholly-owned subsidiary Sorrento Networks, Inc., is a leading developer and marketer of end-to-end optical networking solutions for metropolitan and access networks, today announced the appointment of James M. Dixon as President and Chief Operating Officer of Osicom Technologies.

Dixon, currently the Chairman of South America, formerly served as Executive Vice President of Nextel and President of Digital Mobil Networks. During his tenure at Nextel/Digital Mobil Networks, Dixon was responsible for the worldwide development of Nextel's Digital Mobile Networks and technologies.

Prior to his roles at Nextel/Digital Mobile Networks, Dixon served as Vice President of Fleet Call, which later became Nextel. In this capacity, he was responsible for building a new division to deploy the Motorola-MIRS network in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento. This project involved the development and operations of a wireless telecommunications network based on Motorola's newest digital technology.

Previously, Dixon served as Senior Vice President of McCaw Cellular Communications. Dixon entered the wireless communications industry as the first President of Cellular One San Francisco (Bay Area Cellular Telephone Company). Prior to that, he spent fifteen years in the telecommunications switching industry with ITT and Harris Digital Telephone Systems.

Dixon received an MBA from Pepperdine University. He served in the US Army from 1968 to 1971, where he distinguished himself as a decorated combat pilot in Vietnam.
