Organic merger; FARMING WATCH.

GRAINFARMERS, the country's largest farmer-owned grain business, has announced the formation of a marketing joint venture with The Organic Arable Marketing Group to handle organic crops.

Under the terms of the agreement Grainfarmers and OAMG are merging their organic marketing activities.

Grainfarmers will provide marketing and administration expertise, with OAMG promoting organic cereal production and, through its links with Elm Farm Research Centre, providing technical support.

The joint venture is expected to handle more than 25pc of the UK's organic cereal production this year.

"The joint venture will focus on meeting the rapidly expanding demand for British organic cereals, " said Grainfarmers managing director Tim Pollock.
