Orders will drive away the F1 fans.

SOMETHING'S wrong with a sport when a thrilling race like Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix happens by accident.

Something's wrong when drivers who were once men of skill and daring take to their team radios to demand their team-mate be ordered to move over.

Team orders are not new in Formula One but that does not make them any less of a curse.

They are born from the disconnect at the heart of the sport - most fans, outside Italy at least, are more interested in who wins the drivers' title. Many teams are more focused on who wins the constructors' crown.

Maybe they should all remember that watching drivers being told to hold station is a mind-numbing spectacle that can kill a sport.

I think that's why I like Sebastian Vettel more, not less, for disobeying team orders and overtaking Mark Webber.

I suspect Webber would have tried to do the same. In fact, he did so once before.

A boxing writer once told me 'fighters f***ing fight'. It would be nice if F1 just allowed racers to race.
