OrderFusion and Ariba Join Supply Chain and Demand Chain Capabilities; Alliance Merges Business-to-Business Sell-Side and Buy-Side Using Commerce cXML.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 1999--

OrderFusion, a leading provider of business-to-business electronic commerce order management and fulfillment tracking software and Ariba Inc. (Nasdaq:ARBA), the leader in business-to-business electronic commerce solutions for operating resources, announced today that the companies have entered into a strategic agreement bringing together the buy- and sell-side of business-to-business electronic commerce.

The combined solution will enable suppliers using OrderFusion Orders of Magnitude(TM) to receive customer orders from the Ariba(R) Network(TM) service via the Commerce Extensible Markup Language (cXML) standard, an emerging Internet standard for exchanging supplier product content and transaction information between buyers and suppliers. Suppliers using OrderFusion Orders of Magnitude that are also registered on the Ariba Network service will be able to process orders and automatically notify customers of status changes.

This combined solution will also enable end-users at buying organizations to use the Web to access order status or make changes regarding delivery date or location. The integrated solution will provide the opportunity for both customers and suppliers to dramatically reduce transaction costs and achieve the fastest time to benefit.
