Orbit Books reports successful 2006.
Orbit Books, the science fiction imprint of Little, Brown Book Group, has said that its share of the Science Fiction & Fantasy market through Bookscan in 2006 was 20%, which is nearly twice that of any other genre imprint.
During the year Orbit Books achieved record turnover, with its highest ever gross sales since the company's launch in 1974.
The imprint attributed much of its success in 2006 to the establishment of Trudi Canavan as a new fantasy bestseller. Canavan reportedly had two Sunday Times Top 10 hardback bestsellers in 2006, with Priestess of the White and Last of the Wilds.
Orbit is also scheduled to launch in the United States, as an imprint of Hachette Book Group USA, in September 2007.
