Optom faces hearing.

AN OPTOMETRIST from Leicestershire will appear before a GOC fitness to practise committee to face allegations that his fitness to practise is impaired next month. The Council will claim that on December 19 2007 Jayesh Patel appeared at Leicester Magistrates Court where he was convicted of 20 counts of false accounting contrary to Section 17 (1) (b) of the Theft Act and two counts of using a false instrument with intent contrary to Section 3 of the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act, 1981. Mr Patel's case is scheduled to take place on the morning of March 20 at the GOC offices in Harley Street, London. The case will be heard by two optometrists and three lay members.
