Opposition arises to MedPAC's inflation decision.

The Alliance for Quality Nursing Home Care issued a statement voicing its dissatisfaction with the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission's (MedPAC) resistance to an annual inflation adjustment for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and to freeze 2008 payments. MedPAC also wants to implement a site-neutral postacute payment system. With the increasing cost of providing quality long-term care, a normal annual inflation update would help to sustain quality gains in nursing homes across the country, an American Health Care Association press release stated.
