The Lincoln City Cultural Center is seeking child actors for the coming Missoula Children's Theatre touring production of "Treasure Island."
This adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's tale of pirates, gold and life on the high seas includes singing and dancing. This is a weeklong workshop, which is free for all North Lincoln County-area kids, culminating in two performances of "Treasure Island" on the LCCC stage.
Children and teenagers who attend school outside of the North Lincoln County can participate in the production for a $50 registration fee covering all rehearsals and performances.
Auditions for "Treasure Island" will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, June 26 at LCCC, 540 N.E. Highway 101, Lincoln City. Audition time is 9:45 a.m. to noon.
Some of the older cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately following the audition. The rest will report for rehearsals on Tuesday, June 27 and throughout the week. All activities will take place at the LCCC.
Among the roles to be cast are Jim Hawkins, his mother and six sisters, a pirate crew, Hawkins' ruffian friends, seacoast villagers and gulls. Students entering grades 1 through 12 may audition, and no advance preparation is necessary. Assistant directors will be cast to aid in rehearsals throughout the week and to take on backstage responsibilities.
The two performances will be at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 1.
The MCT Tour Actors/Directors will conduct rehearsals from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday, June 26 through July 30.
