Operations at Los Angeles-area AMTDA distributor Applied Machinery Co. (Bell, Calif.) are essentially discontinued as the lease on office space on Bandini Blvd. runs out. Owner Robert A. Cole Sr., 82, decided to shut the family company down after his fourth spine operation and in the face of disastrous business levels, and son Robert A. Cole, Jr., VP of sales, moved to other opportunities. Applied Machinery had handled Index Corp., several brands from United Grinding Technologies, Greenerd Press, and Komo Machine.
