Opera Telecom introduces Mosquito Ringtone.

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-16 June 2006-Opera Telecom introduces Mosquito Ringtone(C)1994-2006 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Opera Telecom, a mobile services company, in conjunction with Melodi Media, is distributing 'Mozzy Tones' (Mosquito Ringtone) - a ringtone that sounds like a buzzing mosquito.

According to the company, 'Mozzy Tones' is designed especially for youngsters, since many adults will not be able to hear the 17-kilohertz buzzing sound because of age-related hearing loss. According to The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy, this condition begins after the age of 20, first affecting the highest hearing frequencies (18 to 20 kilohertz), although most common in persons over 65.

Teenagers will also be able to text each other silently, with the notification of an arriving message being hidden from any adults, but obvious to the recipient, claims the director of Melodi Media.

The company that created the mosquito sound is UK-based Compound Security, and the high-frequency buzzer device that it originally developed, was designed to irritate youngsters and deter them from hanging around outside shops, the company claims.

No financial or pricing details were disclosed.
