Open day at Khizra Mosque; ADVERTISING FEATURE.
THIS Sunday an exciting opportunity to learn more about your local community is coming to Khizra Mosque.
On February 18 the community is holding an open day as part of the MCB led nationwide #VISITMYMOSQUE initiative that will allow all visitors to explore the mosque and understand more about the outreach programmes the mosque puts on. These include: feeding the homeless, health awareness seminars, youth club, football and many more.
The event runs from 12pm to 4pm, and starts with a short presentation, brief speeches by the interfaith community and a performance by children at the supplementary school.
The day is open to the whole family, with lots of fun activities planned such as henna hand painting and games to keep the children entertained. 30 minute tours will be available throughout the day with opportunities to ask questions.
Khizra Mosque is offering the opportunity to observe Muslim prayer. This is a unique chance for people of any or no faith to get an intimate glimpse at the Muslim daily ritual, and learn more about the different cultures within their community. Replicas of two rare Islamic artefacts will also be unveiled; a copy of the first Quran ever to be compiled as well as a 9th century Qajari Astrolabe.
Food and drinks will be available at the finger buffet and drinks reception. Discussions will be encouraged, with all visitors able to talk to each other about what they have learned, and express their opinions and thoughts.
Khizra Mosque was a proud recipient of the BeProud Manchester Award 2017 recognising its good work following the Manchester terror attack. It welcomes thousands of people from the wider community via its community outreach programmes every year.
So if you're interested in learning more about the role of the mosque, the Islamic faith and its people, and how you can volunteer for your local community, head down to Khizra Mosque this weekend!
