Open AXIS Group formed by airlines and ATPCO to promote acceptance and adoption of connectivity standards.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2010 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

Air Canada, American Airlines (NYSE:AMR), Continental Airlines (NYSE:CAL), Delta Airlines (NYSE:DAL), United Airlines (NASDAQ:UAUA) and US Airways (NYSE:LCC) announced today they have formed the Open AXIS (Airlines XML Integration Standard) Group.

The Open AXIS Group plans to promote a standardised XML (eXtensible Markup Language) schema as the optimal electronic messaging structure for airline system connectivity used in content distribution.

The Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPC) was invited by the group to serve as a founding Allied Member.

There is no requirement to join the group and use its messaging standard, the Open AXIS Group's standard XML schema is available and open to all.
