Ontario Police Force Purchases Hybrid Pickup.

Local Canadian newspaper the London Free Press reported last week that a division of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has purchased a hybrid electric pickup truck for use in conducting safety inspections of commercial vehicles.

The Free Press said OPP purchased the hybrid truck to help the force reduce its fuel costs and become more "environmentally conscious."

The newspaper noted that OPP plans to add more hybrid vehicles to the fleets of 11 other divisions.

The Free Press noted that the hybrid truck's electric motor powers various onboard amenities, including a photocopier.
