Only 100 per cent effort will do for Jim.

Jim Goodwin insists all he will ever ask for is 100 per cent effort from his side.

The Irishman has been delighted with how his St Mirren outfit have heeded his advice as he bids to make his mark on the players.

Having impressed against both Hibs and Aberdeen, Goodwin knows that the Buddies will have to up their levels when they take on Rangers next Sunday.

But he has no doubts they will be up to the task when the time comes around.

He said:"Any team against us, be it Celtic, Rangers, Livingston, Ross County or whoever, I want them to know they are always in a game.

"If we get turned over, then so be it.We get turned over because they are the better team.

"But it won't be because there was a lack of fight, determination or effort. That's the minimum requirement - 100 per cent effort.

"If we make mistakes along the way I can accept that but I can never accept teams not trying.

"I think in the last couple of weeks the team are giving their all for the jersey and we are desperate to stay in the Premiership.

"We are not getting carried away, it's one win. But it gives me hope going forward."
