danniboi Absolutely brilliant. Once again, the North-east proves that we are above the woes of the rest the country. We in the North-east have been in a recession since the days of Margaret Thatcher.But being the strong willed people that we are, we will rise above any adversity that is thrown at us.

Nothing will grind down the ability of Northern folks to enjoy a laugh at themselves and just get on with living our lives.

Bryon WE WROTE: A pounds 3m development of new homes granted planning consent could kick start the regeneration of Grove Hill in Middlesbrough. Erimus Housing is proposing to build 30 new homes.

YOU SAID: Both the Labour councillors Brunton and Rooney use the same phrase - 'kick start' - clearly a case of great minds think alike. Sadly the area has been 'kick started' how many times previously is it now? What makes them think this will be any different to the last? Indie Three hundred houses demolished, 30 new ones to be built, a slight discrepancy here. What businesses and retail outlets are to be built and where? This is another half hearted attempt to 'regenerate' Grove Hill.

darkcloud They are to be built on a large grassed area and this will involve the removal of some mature elm trees. Why not build them on the land where houses have already been demolished instead? Indie
