Online tendering service helps safety company.

Byline: By Howard Walker

An online tendering service has helped a Northumberland safety equipment company win a series of valuable public sector contracts.

Draeger Safety UK Limited, the Blyth- based UK arm of the German-owned multi-national, has secured a range of business after it signed up to www., an online tendering service provided by North-East web portal

Richard Beckwith, marketing manager at Draeger's Blyth office, said: "I receive around ten opportunities a week direct to my email inbox. Some are of direct interest and others have been requested on behalf of our international operations. In fact, we have won at least 16 public sector tenders over the past year alone, probably more, all identified by using"

A recent large tender win, which was identified using the service, was from the Northern Ireland Fire Brigade for a breathing apparatus entry control system.

Winning this latest contract helped the company to maintain its position as market leading supplier of compressed air breathing apparatus to fire brigades across the UK.

Mr Beckwith said: "We subscribe to and other tendering services. The service is the one I turn to first.

"It gives me a retrospective look at tenders, allowing me to run historical searches. This helps me to identify trends and market capacity, based on what tenders are issued over a specified time period."

Previously Mr Beckwith used to trawl through publications manually to look for tenders. He said: "The n-e-opportunities online tendering system offers us a more automated approach, including a refined search facility with delivery to my desktop, saving me a huge amount of time."

The North-East tendering service offers 900 business opportunities daily, from the UK, Europe and beyond, and can be tailored to deliver to the desktop only those that are most relevant to an organisation. Companies choose from two levels of membership - Premium and Platinum.
